How to Book as a Foreign Passport Holder

The official booking platform (12306.cn) now has English system and accepts foreign bank cards.

  1. 1Go to 12306.cn or open the Railway12306 app on your phone
  2. 2Tap Trains β†’ enter your departure city, destination, and date
  3. 3Choose your train β€” G trains are fastest, look for morning departures to maximise your day
  4. 4Select your seat class β€” window seat (靠ηͺ—) is worth selecting
  5. 5Enter your passport number exactly β€” this is your ticket ID in China
  6. 6Pay with your international Visa or Mastercard
  7. 7At the station: go to the ticket machine β†’ select "Foreign Passport" β†’ scan or enter your passport number β†’ collect your ticket
⚠️ Always Bring Your Physical Passport
Your train ticket is linked to your passport number. Security checks at train stations require you to show your physical passport alongside your ticket. A photo of the passport on your phone is not accepted.
