The story: Opened in 2014, Ocean Kingdom holds 5 Guinness World Records, including the world's largest aquarium — 48.75 million liters of water — and the biggest single tank on earth, a 22.7-million-liter whale-shark exhibit behind a 39.6m × 8.3m acrylic window. Its residents include whale sharks over 8 meters long, manta rays, belugas, polar bears and penguins, spread across 8 themed ocean zones.

Why it's a must-see: This is the closest most people will ever get to a whale shark the size of a bus drifting silently past — plus record-breaking exhibits, a 100km/h roller coaster, a 5D castle theatre and a nightly fireworks spectacular, all in one ticket (adult ¥395, child ¥280).

Why it's a must-see: Where else can you stand on the same courts as WTA and ATP pros — then actually book a court and play? In the low season you might watch a world-class match with only a few hundred other fans, which is its own kind of magic.

The story: Every night around 8pm, the lake in front of Ocean Kingdom becomes a 15–20-minute stage: over 100 drones, real fireworks, water-jetpack flyers, jet-ski stunts, a dancing music fountain and laser projections that turn the whale-shark building into a giant screen.

Why it's a must-see: It's a full action-movie finale included with your park ticket — part fountain show, part fireworks, part drone display — and the single most photographed moment on the island. Pure spectacle, and the kids will never forget it.

The story: Hengqin Port runs 24 hours with 'one-stop joint inspection': you queue once and clear both China and Macau, typically in 30 seconds to 20 minutes. Across the Lotus Bridge you're on Macau's Cotai Strip — a ~10-minute taxi from the Venetian-style canals and the UNESCO-listed historic center. Macau's light rail now has a Hengqin Line, making the hop even easier.

Why it's a must-see: It's the world's most effortless two-city day: breakfast in Zhuhai, pastéis de nata in Macau by lunch, back in time for the firework show at night. A genuine two-country adventure that takes zero planning.

The story: Hengqin Port was approved for an inbound duty-free shop in January 2026 (up to ¥15,000 of duty-free goods for travelers entering from Macau — check its opening status), while an outbound duty-free shop already operates, and Macau's mega-mall Cotai resorts are 10 minutes away.

Why it's a must-see: It's a shopping loop few tourists find: grab duty-free bargains, stroll through the newest, emptiest border crossing in the Pearl River Delta, and finish with a Portuguese-style photo at the Lopo Boutique plaza, all in one afternoon.
